My product making process

The process from idea to shelf is a lengthy but exciting one. Hi, I’m Michelle, a Clinical Aromatherapist from New Zealand. I have been working in the health and wellness sector for over 17 years. Health care is my passion and as such I also specialised in Reflexology and Lymphatic Drainage back in 2006. As a youngster though, I vividly remember analysing product boxes and ingredients whilst shopping with Mum. To this day, the cosmetics isle of any store is my favourite place. I can get lost reading the various labels and memorising ingredients. It was no surprise that I added Cosmetic Science to my Diploma, graduating in 2008.

Although it wasn’t until lockdown 2020 that I finally had the headspace and level of experience to create my own line of body products.

I am fortunate enough to work in a busy, multidisciplinary practice with a variety of skilled health care providers. These practitioners served as the inspiration for the products your find on this website. It was immediately clear that everyone wanted an effective, rapidly absorbing product that left clients with that fresh, ‘menthol’ feeling we’ve come to associate with muscle relief. Then, there were alternative suggestions for pregnant and breastfeeding patients, children and a much needed physio taping gel that enhanced tape adhesion while still treating inflammation and supporting muscle tissue recovery.

The fun finally began in lockdown 2020 as I started testing different base textures such as gels, oils, balms and lotions.

Once a base had been perfected, powerful active ingredients sourced from local NZ companies were added. When I had a winner, the products were put through the ringer during a 3 -6 month stability testing period. This involves subjecting products to extreme environmental conditions to observe whether the pH has drifted or if the emulsion has separated. These tests ultimately help predict shelf life and the specific preservatives required. This part of the process is my favourite, I get such a kick out of seeing products that I have crafted hold up to these extreme tests.

Once I have the final product…label design and marketing start and FINALLY you hold the product in your hands…phew!

Enjoy these custom crafted products from one professional to another- Michelle
